About Segsworth Family
Please sign in to see more.
There are not a lot of Segsworths in the world. It's one of those names that we just automatically spell out when we give our name to anyone, without waiting for that questioning look. It doesn't sound strange to us, but then, we grew up with it.

The name Segsworth originated in England, though the only Segsworths I know of today are in Canada and the U. S. Most seem to be in or around Toronto, Ontario.

Most sources indicate that the name Segsworth is an alternative spelling for Sigsworth or Sedgeworth. All three of these surnames originated in North Yorkshire, England, possibly related to a location called Sigsworth Moor. Our family has spelled the name with an 'e' as far back as we can trace our ancestors and there are records of the name Segworth (with an e) from as early as 1590. (See more at http://www.surnamedb.com/Surname/Sedgeworth).

This project includes a lot more names than Segsworths. There are numerous branches of this family history and this will be a never-ending project as new names and branches are continually added. If you have any additions or corrections to any of this information, please let me know. (See the contact link in the Welcome section.)
